To identify individual compound chemists use names. There is a systematic method of naming chemical compounds. Although there is some exception like water for H2O, ammonia for NH3, caustic soda for NaOH and washing soda for Na2CO3.
Naming of Acids
The general methods of naming acids are the following:-
1. Hydracids – These are acids containing hydrogen and another element. Their names begin with “hydro” and end with “ic”.
Examples – hydrochloric (HCl), hydrobromic (HBr), hydroiodic (HI).
